Workspace settings

A guide to the Settings page — rename your workspace, tune sync freshness and content serving in General, and find users, schedules, the promotion pipeline, AI providers, roles and the audit log.

Updated in Administration & security

Overview

Settings is where you configure your workspace. Open it from the gear icon in the header or System → Settings in the sidebar. The left menu has two groups:

GroupTabWhat it's forLink
WorkspaceGeneralWorkspace name, sync freshness, content serving/settings?tab=general
WorkspaceUsersMembers and invitations/settings?tab=users
WorkspaceSync SchedulesAutomatic syncs/settings?tab=sync
WorkspacePromotion PipelineHow code moves between branches and orgs/settings?tab=repo

EnterpriseRoles & PermissionsWhat each role can do/settings?tab=roles

EnterpriseAudit LogRecord of admin and sign-in activity/settings?tab=audit

The ?tab= links are handy for bookmarks or for sending a teammate straight to the right panel. An unknown tab opens General.

This article covers General. The other tabs have their own articles (see Related articles).

Before you start

  • Renaming the workspace is Admin-only.
  • Saving the other General settings needs the Manage sync schedules permission (Admin, Architect, Release Manager and DevOps by default). See Roles and permissions.

Steps

Rename your workspace

  1. Open Settings → General.
  2. Under Workspace, edit Workspace name. The name appears in the sidebar and must be unique across MetaLens360.
  3. Click Save (or press Enter). You see "Workspace renamed."

Tune sync freshness

  1. Under Sync Freshness, move the Cache TTL slider (from Off up to 48h).
  2. Within this window, comparisons and analyses reuse the last sync instead of re-fetching from Salesforce. Set it to Off (0) to always re-fetch.
  3. Click Save Settings. You see "Settings saved."

Choose how content is served

  1. Under Content Serving, choose the Source Store. The Database option is marked Recommended and works on every kind of MetaLens360 installation. The File System option only suits installations on a dedicated, persistent server.
  2. Click Save Settings.

Other General sections

  • Git & Remote Push — an Auto-push to Remote switch that only matters on self-managed installations. Leave it as your MetaLens360 administrator set it.
  • Where Data Is Stored — read-only information about where component source and sync archives live.

To undo your changes, click Reset to Defaults, then Save Settings.

Example

Priya's team runs several comparisons each afternoon against the same orgs. She sets Cache TTL to 4h so repeat comparisons reuse the morning's sync and finish faster. On release day she sets it to Off so every comparison pulls fresh metadata from acme-prod.

FAQs

Does the cache TTL affect scheduled syncs?

No. Scheduled syncs always run at their set time. The TTL only decides whether an on-demand comparison or analysis can reuse recent sync data.

When will Security & SSO and Billing & Licenses be available?

They're marked Soon. The panels describe what's planned.

Do these settings affect other workspaces?

No. They apply to your workspace only.

Troubleshooting

"A workspace with that name already exists"

Workspace names are unique across MetaLens360. Choose a slightly different name.

"Your role does not have permission to do this (sync.schedules.manage)"

Saving General settings needs Manage sync schedules. Ask an Admin. See Permission denied errors.

The Workspace name field is greyed out

Only Admins can rename the workspace. The field shows "Only workspace admins can rename it."
