Use AI drift insights

The AI Intelligence Report turns a finished comparison into a plain-language Leadership summary and a Technical Lead summary you can regenerate at any time.

Overview

Reading hundreds of drifted components is slow. The AI Intelligence Report on a comparison's detail page summarizes the drift for two audiences:

  • Leadership Summary — what the drift means for release risk and what to decide, in business terms.
  • Technical Lead Summary — which components and types need attention, and why.

MetaLens360 tries to generate the report automatically when a comparison completes. It is saved on the comparison, so everyone who opens it later sees the same report without generating it again.

Before you start

  • The comparison must be Completed. The panel does not appear while a job is running or after it fails.
  • Your workspace needs at least one working AI provider. See Configure AI providers.
  • If your workspace uses own keys, you need an AI key of your own to generate or regenerate. Reading an existing report never needs one. See Choose who pays for AI generation.

Steps

  1. Open a completed comparison from Comparisons.
  2. Find the AI Intelligence Report panel, between the drift breakdown and the results table.
  3. If you see "AI insights not yet generated for this comparison", click Generate Insights. The panel shows Analyzing drift data with AI… while it works.
  4. Use the Leadership and Technical buttons to switch between the two summaries.
  5. Check the "via …" label in the panel header to see which AI provider wrote the report and when.
  6. To refresh the report — for example after your AI setup changes — click the refresh icon (Regenerate insights). The new report replaces the old one for everyone.

Example

Priya needs to brief her director on the acme-uat vs acme-prod comparison. She opens the Leadership view, which says that most drift is in two Flows and one Permission Set, and recommends holding the Permission Set change for review. She then switches to Technical and forwards the component list to Arjun, the tech lead.

FAQs

Is the AI report a substitute for reviewing the diffs?

No. It is a summary to help you prioritize. Always confirm important changes in the diff viewer — see Read comparison results.

Which AI provider is used?

The first available provider in your workspace's fallback chain. The panel header shows which one answered.

What data is sent to the AI provider?

A summary of the comparison: the org or branch names, counts by type and status, the names of drifted components, and the names of the people who last changed them where that is known. It does not include source code or your Salesforce records.

Does regenerating cost anything?

It makes one AI request. With free-tier providers there is usually no charge; paid providers bill per use.

Troubleshooting

"AI insights could not be generated — no AI providers configured."

Your workspace has no working AI provider. An administrator can set one up in Settings → AI Providers. See Fix AI provider not configured errors.

I see "… needs a key of your own"

Your workspace requires each person to use their own AI key for new output. Click Add your key, or ask an administrator. Existing reports stay readable.

The panel stays on "AI insights not yet generated"

Automatic generation may have failed, for example because every provider was rate limited. Click Generate Insights to try again.
